Winter Reading

With the constant stream of talk on the economy, taxes, Obamacare, bailouts, OWS, and the economy in Europe, I decided to dive into the book, The New Road to Serfdom by Daniel Hannan.  It is a brief, but refreshing, discussion on the greatness of America that touches on each of these subjects.  Mr. Hannan is a Brit, and a member of the European Parliament.  Because his accolades and observations of America come from a European perspective, they are credible and revealing.  Another very worthwhile reason to read this book is that, as Americans, we really don't know Europe the way we think we do.  Mr. Hannan details the European welfare society clearly and the result is a picture of a powerful, state-run socialistic society.  Throughout the book he is comparing and contrasting the two systems, and it is very eye-opening.   If a loyal British citizen takes the time and effort to write a book calling Americans to guard America's values and freedoms, I'd say that was a significant reason to take this book and its message seriously.  Mr. Hannan has issued us an urgent letter of warning and we must wake up and take note and take action!
