Obama was in Ohio yesterday campaigning and giving a speech. Well, he wouldn't say he was campaigning, but we all know he was. Here are some excerpts from his speech:
Obama: “But when Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as President to do what I can without them.”
Translation: Constitution-Schmonstitution. I can override the Checks and Balances system of the Constitution if I want to ---I’m the King, er, the President.
Obama: “I’ve got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people. And I’m not going to stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people that we were elected to serve.”
Translation: Constitution-Schmonstitution. I can make recess appointments even when Congress is not in recess! I can appoint a chief to my Consumer Financial Protection Board and have neither him nor the bureau accountable to anyone! I'm smart and you need me to rule over you and the Constitution.
Obama: “Not with so much at stake, not at this make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans. We’re not going to let that happen.”
Translation: Constitution-Schmonstitution. I love that flexible document. You middle-class American, I’m ruling over you, er, I'm watching out for you….and your votes in November.
